Rue Mouffetard & Surrounding Areas

Select photos from one of the oldest neighborhoods in Paris, and also where we spent the most time. Located in the 5th arrondissement, Rue Mouffetard is a small but lively street full of cafes, specialty food shops, bodegas, and beautiful people.

We visited our favorite bakery, Le Fournil de Mouffetard, almost every day, and now that we are back home, it is safe to say we miss their breads and pastries just as much as the energetic neighborhood itself.

Hemingway's First Apartment

Ernest Hemingway's first Parisian apartment at 74 Rue Cardinal Lemoine. He resided there from January 1922 to August 1923.

René Descartes' Apartment

The door to Descartes' apartment, also in close proximity to the apartment of James Joyce.

It boggles my mind to think about how many of the world's greats lived in and wandered through the very same streets.
